I know it has been forever since I have been on my blog. A lot has been going on in my life and I just have not had time. However, about 2 weeks ago, I took a soldering class. I learn how to solder sterling silver wire together into several different shapes and then either leave them round or hammer them thin with different designs on them. This was a great class and now I am in the process of purchasing a soldering machine so I can make jewelry. In the class I started to make a necklace and need to finish that and then I plan on making a matching pair of earrings. I took this simple wire:

And turned it into this gorgeous necklace. Now I was in this class for like 8 hours and this is all I could get done. It is a lot of work. First you need to shape your wire into the shape that you want and then you need to solder that wire together. Now that is a tough task to learn. It is hard to get the touch of heating the solder to flow into your gap of your shape. Sometimes you will over heat the solder and it wont flow. Then you have to start over by cleaning your piece and then re-soldering. But it was an awesome class. Once you solder the piece together, you then need to file down your solder spot. As you can see on this first picture, the first small circle next to the big one, you can see where I soldered it together. The solder makes a little bit of a lump and you need to file that down. So your first step is to solder all of your circles together and then you need to clean them up by filing them. That is the step that I am at right now. I need to finish making my jumprings and different shapes, solder them all together and then file each of them down.

After you have filed all of your pieces down, you then need to buff down your piece and then add a little shine by polishing it to make it shiny. I am not near that point yet. I have 2 more hours of soldering time that I get along with my class. In the next few weeks I will be scheduling that and then I will try to finish all of my soldering and then come home and start the process of finishing it. Once I am finished I will post more pictures. If you have the opportunity to take a soldering class, take it.

The show turned out pretty good made some money and also received orders to make things for Christmas. Wow!!!!

So I know I have not posted forever.. I have been so busy with traveling. Last week I was in OH and this weekend I flew to PA to move my mom down here to GA. Wow what a trip. Flew in Thurs afternoon, packed, got up Friday morning and finished the packing and left PA at 1030am. Drove all day until 1030pm and stopped in Spartansburg, SC. Wow now that was a drive. We stayed at this horrible hotel got up at 5am, got back in the truck and finished our drive to GA. Got into town at 1030am and then unpacked. Whew!!!! I was tired. So now I need to concentrate on my Jewelry Show this weekend. Need to finish up a few displays and get started to setup. So hopefully later today I will post my give-away. It will be a cultured pearl jewelry set which will include: necklace, bracelet and earrings. Wow... so now I am concentrating on how I am going to make that and finish my school homework for this week. Good Lord... I dont know how I do it.. but I do.... and then back to work tomorrow. So for now, check you later.

The "Viking Knit Bracelets"

So check this out........ I worked all day on these bracelets and I love them!!! There are sterling silver viking knit bracelets. The first one has a blue bead on it and the other is just silver. I will be working on making more of these tomorrow.

These bracelets below are ones that I had for a while and just dresses them up with gluing beads to the tops. This first one I glued grey buttons to the top and it looks absolutely beautiful.

These bracelets below, I am debating on adding wire beads off the sides of the jumprings. I am not sure what I am going to do with them.. They look gorgeous just as they are.

Ok so for now I am off to watch some TV and relax for the evening. Tomorrow I will be back at it.

Sterling Silver Pendant

Check out this cool pendant I made last week. I had this bead that has a whole through the center of it.

Then I took some 20 gauge wire and made a loop that would fit around my bead.

Then I took some 26 gauge wire and started wrapping it around the 20 gauge wire.

After I was done wrapping the wire I took the bead and placed it in the center of the loop that I had wrapped wire around. I started to wrap the 26 gauge wire around the outside, just about 2 loops and then I put the wire through the bead. On the other side I took the wire and attached it to the outside loop and then I went across the back of the bead to secure it and then attached the wire to the other side.

This is what it looks like when you are finished attaching the bead to the center.

Then I took that 20 gauge wire and started at the top and added silver beads to the outside of the wire loop. I then took the two wires at the top and twisted them to make a loop to attach a chain necklace. That is it... Beautiful huh!!!!

NEW Byzantine Chain Bracelet

Hey Everybody, today is an awesome day.... I just finished making a new bracelet. Byzantine Chain Bracelet. It is a very easy, awesome bracelet to make. Went online this morning looking for some jumprings and found this tutorial to make this bracelet. http://www.thebeadman.com/byzantine.html

You can use any size and color of jumprings.

Items need are:

jewelry pliers
5mm gunmetal jumprings
6mm gunmetal jumprings
jewelry awl

Ok so what I did was take the first two jumprings 5mm and placed them on a piece of wire and then attached it to the vise to hold it while I made this bracelet.

Used the 6mm jumpring for finishing of this bracelet and a large gunmetal clasp.

Used another 6mm gunmetal jumpring for the other end.

Going to start to make a matching necklace and earrings. This bracelet took me about 4 hours to make. Isn't it great... this is a piece of jewelry that you will need to add to your personal collection of jewelry. I love it!!!! These would make excellent Xmas presents. Looming finished

Ok so you take your piece of jewelry off of the loom.

Take the knot out of your one side of your jewelry and separate your threads. This is going to be the side where your loop is going to be. Take the 2 outter threads and place them aside and then you need to hide the other 8 threads.

Hide your threads by weaving them back into your piece of jewelry. This makes your piece strong and keeps the bracelet from falling apart.

One example to help hide your thead is by weaving your thread back through the bracelet length wise and then go back and forth width wise. After you have weaved your thread, you can then cut off the ends.

With your 2 strands on each side you want to take several beads and place them on your thread. Now how many beads you put on is how big your loop is going to be. I used 8 beads. Once your beads are on your thread then you need to take your needle and place one of the threads through it and then go back through the other set of beads, then you can start to hide that thread in the bracelet. Take the second thread from that same side and place it through the beads also and then secure that thread. Do the same to the other set of beads and then you will finish your loop.

Finished loop. Cool huh!!!!

Ok now for the other end of your jewelry.

Take those threads and separate them into 3 sets of 4. The 4 on the outter sides need to be hidden. The 4 threads in the middle is where your bead will be placed.

Ok so all of your outter threads have been hidden.

Ok instead of making a bead ball, I seen in a magazine the other day that somebody used a button to make their closures on their bracelets. So, in my piles of beads I found a bag of buttons and pulled this one out. Basically I took those 4 threads and separated them into 2 threads. I took 2 seed beads and placed them on the 2 threads. Then I took the button and placed the 2 sets of threads through the button holds. I then tied the threads and put them back through the button holds and then tied them off and cut my threads.

Waaaalaaaa!!!! Bracelet finished. So my button slides through my loop and is secure on my arm. Now this bracelet is tight on my arm which is ok. Ok so now I need to go figure out how to finish my Viking Knit necklace and bracelet... However, I think I will be back today with some new goodies that I purchased at Fire Mountain Gems and will be making a very cool bracelet.

Viking Knit Necklace

Ok so, yes I should be finishing my looming bracelet but I get so sidetracked I can't believe it. So anyway here is my viking knit bracelet that I made earlier today.

I made a mistake on this first one by using 22 gauge wire to hold it. You need to use the same gauge wire that you are using for your necklace or bracelet. I will fix that later when I finish it.

Here is my tutorial: I am sure you can find a better one.

So first of all I you take your 26 gauge wire and wrap it around a round object four times.

Take it off the round object.

Next take the wire between your two fingers and squeeze it together.
Then you take the tail of the wire and wrap it around to secure it.
Then you spread out the four wires like a four leaf clover.
You then bend the wire in a cone shape and add you wire that you are going to weave with.

I used an allan wrench and vise grip. I took the allan wrench and placed it into the vise grip.

You then take your four leaf clover and put it over your allen wrench.

You take your extra piece of wire and start to weave it through your first loop. Just like a letter e.

See the letter e.

Then you go to the next loop and make another letter e loop.
Once you make your letter e's, your second level goes behind the letter e and makes another letter e loop.

This is what it looks like after about 20 rows. I am still not sure how many rows will make a bracelet and how many will make a necklace. When I got done weave my necklace it was about 13 inches long and then when I stretched it, it added about 5 inches to the length.

I then had my man make me a drill board out of wood and drill bits so I could pull my wire through it. By pulling your wire through these little holes you can make your necklace or bracelet as thin as you want to.

Here is my finished product. So now basically I just need to add a cone onto the end of the wire and secure it and it is finsihed. Like I said before...... this is just my tutorial and you can find a better tutorial online.

Well I went out to the bead shop yesterday and found my crystal white seed beads that I needed to finish my looming bracelet, which I will work on today. However... I was sidetracked by a book that I was looking at... it had a picture of wire wrapping on wire to make earrings. So, of course I had to try that idea so I made a necklace charm.

This is a very simple process you basically take an 8" piece of 18 gauge wire and fold it in half. Then you take a 5" piece of 18 gauge wire and place it in the center. Now you what you do is bend your 8" wire which is the outside wire and then lay your 5" wire in the middle. Now you want to make sure that when you lay your 5" wire on your 8" wire that you have about an inch

above the hard curve in your 8" wire.

Here is how you lay your wire out. What I did was put a clasp on the top of the wires to keep them together. Then you take any color 26 gauge wire and start to wrap it around the wires. You weave in and out between the wires. What I did was start with the first outside wire and wrap my 26 gauge black wire three times around the first wire and weave over to the middle wire and wrap it around two times and then went over to the third wire and wrapped it around like three times and then came back through the wires. I kept this process up and changed up how many times I would wrap it to keep it even. When you are finished wrapping your wire you just cut it off and hide it. ( just bend it around to the back and take your pliers and smash it tight. You then take your clasp off the top and that that inch of wire and bend it around. I made mine into a curl. You can change it up and make a hook and add a bead. Then I took the bottom wire that was hanging out and curled it and added a bead... so cute... oh yeah I also placed a decorative bead on the 18 gauge wire and then added my bead. I used decorative head pins.

This is so cute... I am making a necklace out of this one, however you can actually make this a pin. Just had a thought.. would this not be cute to shape your wire into a Christmas Tree and then use green wire to fill the center. Now you would still place a single wire in the middle so your wire is not straight across the center. You could then leave like 2 inches of wire over hanging the top and when you are finished shape that extra wire into a star. Then you could use head pins to make little hooks to decorate your tree with seed beads and ornaments. Oh my that sounds so cute... I may have to try that and then post it.

Ok, well I am out for now... I will also be working on my "Viking Knit" today.... I am so excited about that also... hmmmm I guess that is why I have so many projects started and so many not finished.. My mind just races with ideas.

One great thing that I do is.... I look through expensive cataloges and look at the expensive jewelry and then try to figure out how to make it. It is so much fun!!!!

Looming......

Well, I went out looking for my seed beads yesterday and could not find the ones I want, so I will be venturing off to another bead store today. If I don't find what I need then I may have to switch gears and use some of my 1,000's of other beads that I have. I will finish it this weekend and post my pictures.

How awesome, while I was at a bead shop in Carrollton called Bead Happy (http://www.beadhappy2u.com/), and I found a class on "Viking Knit Necklaces". I have never heard of this type of wiring. I am so interested so I came home and looked it up on the internet, here is a website to check it out (http://www.beadhappy2u.com/). I have actually checked out the tutorial on this website (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfsyTn9XCsE), check out this guys video it is awesome. So as I am on my journey today to look for my seed beads..... I will be picking up some 28 gauge wire and will try to make a bracelet. I will post later what I find out.

Looming jewelry making continues.....

Ok so I have finished my bracelet, isn't it pretty. Ok so remember as you are looming and adding threads to your bracelet for more beads you will have pieces of thread hanging on the sides of your item. These pieces need to be weaved back into the bracelet. Simple take your needle and thread it and hide it in the rows of beads. Also, a little tip, as you are beading on your loom and you add thread to continue to bead, you can simple weave those threads into your beads as you go. As you see I only have one thread left on the side to weave back into the bracelet. This also makes your beads secure and your bracelet.

Ok so this weekend I will be going to the bead store to get more beads and then I will show you how to finish your bracelet. Basically what you are going to do at the ends are take the outter three strands and tie a looped knot to hold them for later. The rest of the strands need to be weaved back into the bracelet to secure them. Once those other strands are hidden you take the three strands on each side and cover it with beads to make a little loop. Then on the other side you hide all of the strands on the outside and leave like three in the middle and cover that with beads and make a big bead ball and tie it off. Then your closure is the loop and the bead ball will slip thru that loop to secure your bracelet on your wrist. I know this is all confusing, but once I get my beads I will post pictures of how it is all done.

Looming jewelry making!!!!

I am so excited about this looming... if you don't have one you need to purchase one. They are awesome and fun!!! I am in the process of making a bracelet. You can take a piece of draft paper and draw your design and then make it as a bracelet or even a necklace.

Items needed are:
a loom
nimo beading thread
seed beads of your choice
a thin beading needle

Ok so I am using blue and crytal white seed beads. You need to get a very flexible beading needle.

The looming is fun!!! First you take your nimo beading thread and cut them to the length that you want. You can even make a belt if you want to.

The loom has these coils at each end and you place your nimo thread across both ends of the loom. You can make your necklace, bracelet, or belt how ever wide you want. I used 12 pieces of thread and stretched them across the loom. At the end of each loom is a screw that goes into the wood barrel. That is where you tie your nimo threads. Now on the end that you start with you make that thread short and tight. Now on the other end if you want your item to be longer than the loom you just take that extra thread and tie it around the screw and as you work your way across the loom, you would untie your beginning screw and put your bead over the coil to continue with your length. I am just making this bracelet about 7 inches long.

This is the end of the loom that you start your beading on. See how I took all of the threads and tied them together and then wrapped them around the screw. You need to make sure you have extra thread on each end to end your beading and hook on your closure.

This is the other end of the loom. See how I have soooo much extra on this side. And I have tied it tight around the screw. This way your threads are firm on top for beading.

After you have secured your thread it is time to start beading. You take your nimo thread and put it in your needle eye. You then take the other end of your thread and tie it on to the far right thread by making a small knot. Don't make the knot to big just enough to hold it because you can come back at the end and take that extra thread and go back through the beads to secure it.

So now that you have your thread on the loom, you count your bead spaces that are needed. Since I have used 12 threads my bracelet will be 11 seed beads wide. So I will be using 11 beads each time. You place those 11 beads on your needle to start your design. If you look at the pictures above you will see that I started out with a plain row of crystal white beads and then started out my design.

Ok so now that you have your seed beads on your needle you take those seed beads with thread under the threads. You then press them up firmly against the nimo thread, so that each bead goes into its space.

Ok once your seed beads are in place you take your needle and go through the beads ABOVE the threads. This secures your beads onto the threads. So basically you start your beads under the threads, push them up tight against the threads and then go from the top across the beads to secure them.

So get beading and I will get back to you with pictures on how to finish it.

Jewelry that I have made and some for sale!!!!

This is a nice simple necklace, it is made with a black gun-metal chain and I used black gun-metal headpins to hold the yellow and white glass beads.

This is made with very thin silver wire that I had strung light greenseed beads on. I took another silver piece of wire and strung larger green beads on it and then twisted the wire around the beads. I then took a 3rd piece of silver wire and strung clear green beads and done the same thing... I strung the beads and then wrapped the wire around the beads. This was a fun necklace to make. I have never wore it.. but it is beautiful.

These are simple silver beads that I put on a headpin and then attached to an earring clasp. Very simple and basic and easy to make but yet they are very cute!!!

This is a very beautiful necklace that I made a few years ago. This necklace is made of heavy metal beads. This picture does not do it justice, but it is different shades of blue and bronze colored beads. I used a stronger wire to make this necklace. I then used headpins to attach the hanging beads to the necklace. Headpins are very useful when wanting to add a little shape to your necklaces. Very Nice!!!

This bracelet is for sale. I used coated wire to make this bracelet. The green beads are glass and after stringing the beads on the wire, I took thin silver headpins and twisted them between the beads and made a loop around the wire of the bracelet and then twisted the extra headpin around the length of the headpin to make design around the headpin shaft. Very sweet bracelet.

This is a beautiful set of pearl earrings that I made with headpins that I cut the end off of. I took a piece of silver chain necklace and put the headpins through it and then put a pearl on one end and a seed bead on the other.

This is another set of beautiful earring that I made on silver chain and I took wire and twisted it and hooked those wire loops onto the chain. I have used blue pearl beads and stone beads to accent these earrings. I have also made a matching necklace and bracelet.

This is a basic bracelet that I made. I bought the silver open metal and placed a blue bead in the middle. I then took a piece of silver wire and threaded through the metal piece and then put a blue bead on each end and then twisted a loop and attached each section.

Let's talk jewelry.....I make many types of jewelry. Such as delicate seed bead purses, wire jewelry, threaded jewlery, and chain jewelry. I like working with the different types of wire and twisting it along with beads. I will attach some of my work. I will also post some my jewelry for sale and I will also sell some of my beads that I have purchased over the years.

By making this simple necklace, you can use any type of beads. Below are a few pictures of different types of beads and sizes.

Simple Wire Necklace

This is a very simple necklace to make.

Items needed are :

Jewelry pliers

Beads of your choice

Soft flex beading wire

Crimps (gold or silver)

Wire Cutting tool

First you are going to take your crimp and place that on the wire. Next you will add your beads of choice. Then you place a second crimp at the end of your beads.

After adding your beads and crimps, use your jewelry pliers to press the crimp tight against the wire.

You can space your beads and crimps as far away from each other as you choose. As you see in the first picture, I have spaced them about 2 inches apart. It is really up to you.

When you are done placing your beads on the wire, you are now ready to add your clasp. Place a crimp on the wire first. Next place your clasp on the wire. Then you make a loop in your wire and place the end of the wire through the crimp. Press your crimp tight against the wire. This will make a secure loop for your clasp.

On the other end of your wire, place a crimp on the wire and make a loop. Place that wire through the crimp. Press the crimp tight against the wire to secure your loop.

Ok, now your simple necklace is finished.
